NOTE: A red field or a new investment type is indicated by an exclamation point in the left menu bar. This immediately tells you that settings in the view need your attention or that a new investment type needs to be set up.

This view consists of different tabs:
- Investment type settings
- Link general ledger accounts (see General ledger accounts - Per investment type)
Investment type settings
In this view, the investment types that were imported during the implementation are grouped into different categories and linked to the depreciation period.
This is where you manage the investment types and categories and can:
$stappen$
- Deactivate a category or investment type. The category or investment type no longer displays in reports. An error message displays when you try to deactivate an investment type that still has depreciation costs.
- Allow/disallow input for a category or investment type.
- Indicate whether this is a category. If you tick this column, the investment type becomes a category. At the category level, totals are displayed in the Investments and Investment analysis views. In addition, they are not displayed with the links to the general ledger accounts and cannot be selected when adding a new investment.
- Determine the hierarchy of investment types and their category.
- Enter the default depreciation period in years per investment type.
- Enter the default Residual value end in % per investment type.

Add new investment type
If new investment types are added in the source system during a budget year, they will not be imported until a new initial investment value is read in.

- The view below opens:
- Add the same name the investment type has in the source system (eg ICT03 or ICT 3 years).
- Tick Buildings if the investment type is also used for investments in buildings, but only buildings!
- Under Hierarchy, select the investment category the investment type is part of.
- Under Period (years), enter the depreciation period in years.
- Under Residual value end (%), enter the investment’s residual value as a percentage.
- Click on the pencil to link a GL depreciation account to the new investment type.
- Click on Add.
- If you would like to add a new investment category, repeat steps 1 to 3 and 5 and 9. Then tick Category in the main view.

$note$
If you made changes in the Per investment type tab, Calculate financials and Calculate investments must be ticked. This process can take a while.
Here too, it is advisable not to allow users to budget in Anago when calculations are running.
